GENERAL INFORMATION

· HISTORY OF THE EVENT

The Mexican Symposium on Medical Physics is the most important academic activity of the Medical Physics Division of the Mexican Physics Society and since 1997 (first edition) has been organized by several universities and hospitals across the country. The symposia have taken place in six cities: Mexico City: 1997, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2010 and 2016; León, Guanajuato: 1999, 2004, 2014; Mérida Yucatan: 2000; Juriquilla, Querétaro: 2001; Guadalajara, Guadalajara: 2006; Oaxaca, Oaxaca: 2012. In about 50% of the occasions, the event has taken place in Mexico City. This can be explained by the fact that the only two existing Post-graduate Programs in Medical Physics in the country are from the metropolitan area: one at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City and the other one at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM) in the State of Mexico.
